We descended the gully on the south side, discovering we should have come up this way. A brief storm rolled, making us feel a little anxious with our metal hiking poles and the not too distant thunder. But obviously we made it out alive. ;^)
This was our view of Mt. Chester from the lake on the way out, after the rain. By the time we made it back to the car it was 10:30 pm, not quite dark. Round trip time - 8hrs. It was a good trip - definitely worth repeating.
Based on my trips so far, I think I need to estimate that it will take me Kane's suggested max. round trip time, plus or minus about an hour. Good thing I'm not competitive, or this might bother me, eh?
