Before we became totally inert by the heat and humidity, we went for a couple of hikes. First we walked to the main town (about 7km) which everyone seemed to think was an impossible task. (Most people use scooters, drive small cars or trucks, or take the bus.) This was a continuing theme for all of our destinations except for New Zealand - we wanted to walk and the locals kept thinking we were crazy.
After accomplishing this daunting task, we hiked up to the top of Raemaru. The start of this trail was within a few minutes walk of the hostel. Here Tim is multitasking while enjoying the view.
